Yeah, you know what? Can I just take a
second and talk about this? Because you’re right. Fandom and Tumblr in general
is way different from what it used to be, and that bothers me immensely.
I have such a strong memory of thoroughly
enjoying the community of Tumblr as a teenager. Of the fandoms I was in
especially, because we bonded by gushing about this show or that book, and
there were constantly silly memes from people my age that were hilarious in the
way that only a kid can understand. The fights that did happen were amusing – I
still remember “listen here cumslut” being passed around for ages, because it
was silly and everyone could get a laugh out of it. We didn’t hope that person
who said it turned out to be a pedophile just so we could be self-righteous
about not liking a meme.
Like, say what you will about
Superwholock and Hetalia and the Mischapocalypse. At least we were having fun. At least we enjoyed ourselves. At least we were just trying to be funny.
Fandom nowadays?
I genuinely can’t find any joy in it. Not
in the “I enjoy this piece of media or this fanart” way, in the “I so love
being a part of this fanbase and making injokes and memes with my friends” way.
I’ve seen it here and there from the older users of this site, but the younger
ones?
The younger ones spend their time
screaming at everyone – at each other – over anything and everything, encouraging
this extremist mindset. You’re not allowed to dislike something, you have to
hate it with all of your heart and it has to be sexist, or racist, or some
other –ist that proves that you’re a good
person, because you hate this,
and everyone should hate it, but you
hated it first and everyone should know that.
But where’s the love? Don’t people love
things anymore? Do people even like
things?
I don’t believe that there’s any
happiness in their ranting. There’s a sense of jealousy and hatred in every
line of discourse, no matter who it’s aimed at. It feels like that
forty-year-old who never made it big in Hollywood and now they work at Walmart,
and they’re just seething at everyone who comes by. The problem is that the
young people haven’t had a chance to earn that popularity yet, and yet they
still take it out on everyone else.
Maybe that’s why so many callout posts
exist. Maybe there’s a desperation to bring everyone down below you, instead of
trying to rise up and make something of yourself. Maybe that’s why so many
young artists scream at people who don’t reblog their art.
There’s no happiness in fandom now. Even
when something great happens, that joy lasts for a microsecond before people
start fighting again. That great thing is now horrible and offensive. You can’t
like it anymore.
I don’t understand it. I simply don’t
understand anymore.

Actually, he’s not wrong. For Black women, a period is called such because it should LITERALLY appear to be a drop of blood, hence a PERIOD. Heavy blood flow is caused from hemorrhaging in the system, which isn’t natural. That’s why it hurts, as I would imagine. It really does involve diet.

Sometimes I see this post and think to myself it can’t be real, but yes there are thousands and thousands of people in the world who genuinely believe woman shouldn’t get periods it’s our “diet” this is a thing.
