I’m sure I’d feel the same way if I was a skinny white girl with blue eyes and blonde hair

this girl posted a picture featuring her cystic acne uncovered, something that’s extremely stigmatized, in order to make a statement and spread positivity.

that’s it. that’s all she did.

she didn’t say she was the face of people with acne or act like she has it harder than other people. she just shared a feature that i’m sure she’s been shamed for and has struggled to love.

she’s literally 17-years-old and you’re 27. stop being a dick to kids when they haven’t done anything wrong.

Family member: so… have you changed your mind about having children yet?

Me: no, I still don’t want to have kids :))) I actually want to have surgery done so I can’t have children :)) I might adopt kids though :))

Family member: oh NO but you’ll reGRET it some day!!!!! :O

Me: no, I actually won’t, Patricia, because the world is becoming a terrible place full of crime and global warming and unhealthy living and technology that listens to what you say and do and I don’t want to bring kids into a world like that, but I’m happy to look after children who are already here in that world. Thanks for coming to my TED talk 🙂 please take your opinions elsewhere 🙂

For those of you who need a wake-up call for the situation in global warming:

The world’s climate has already risen one degree.

Doesn’t sound like much, huh?

Let me put this into perspective for you:

If the climate cooled six degrees, the planet would go into another ice age.

The ice caps in Greenland are melting. In 50 years, we won’t be able to stop it.

If the climate warms three degrees, the Amazon Rainforest will dry up.

Scientists estimate that by 2035, the glaciers in the Himalayas will be gone.

If the climate rises four degrees, New York City and other coastal cities will flood. Some parts of New York City will be 25 feet underwater.

If the climate rises 5 degrees, entire cities will dry up.

How can you help?

It’s pretty simple, actually. Every switch you flick, every time you get in the car to drive somewhere, you are contributing to global warming. So here are some examples of things you can do to help:

  • Stop driving everywhere you go. Walk or bike. Cars produce 20% of greenhouse gases.
  • When you do drive, maintain a steady speed, and accelerate slowly and smoothly.
  • Get your car serviced regularly. Make sure your fuel, air, and oil filters are working properly. Make sure your tires are always inflated.
  • Travel by train or bus rather than by plane. Planes pump out a lot of Co2 emissions.
  • If you do have to fly, look for a nonstop flight.
  • Cut down on how much energy you use. Don’t use your electronics as much, and don’t turn on the lights when you don’t need to. Open some windows instead. Maybe put on a sweater instead of turning up the heat.
  • Use LED light bulbs. LED lights use up less energy than regular lights.
  • UNPLUG YOUR ELECTRONICS WHEN YOU ARE NOT USING THEM. When you turn off your TV or computer, but that little light is still on, that electronic is using up energy.
  • Dry your clothing outside instead of in the dryer.
  • Buy local produce.
  • Don’t buy produce that is out of season. If you want strawberries in the middle of winter, consider that they’re probably going to have to be shipped in from somewhere.
  • Start your own garden if you have the time and space.
  • Don’t eat as much red meat. The livestock industry is actually responsible for about 18% of greenhouse gas emissions. Methane is a huge problem when it comes to raising cattle. When you do eat red meat, make sure that it is free-range and grass-fed.
  • Buy food that has less packaging.
  • Buy new items only when you need to. This goes for everything, clothes, food, appliances, and other household items.
  • Buy!! Things!! At!! Thrift!! Stores!!
  • When you have to buy new things, try to buy them locally instead of having them shipped.
  • Buy for durability. Consider if it will be working well in two years. Will it be out of fashion?
  • Re-purpose old things. There are tons of YouTube tutorials on how to reuse old clothes.
  • If you want to get rid of something that still works fairly well, don’t dump it in a landfill, just take it to your local thrift store.
  • Recycle what you are able to in your area. Some areas have different laws around what you can and can’t recycle. Look up what your area allows, and do as much as you can within those laws.
  • Compost!! Composting can serve as a great alternative to throwing away vegetable and fruit scraps. Be careful though, because there are many things that you shouldn’t compost. Do your research.
  • Recycle old electronics like batteries or phones.
  • Take shorter showers. Shorter showers save both water, and the energy it takes to heat the water up.
  • Get a low-flow showerhead. According to National Geographic, you can save 15 gallons of water if you take a ten minute shower.
  • Run your washing machine and dishwasher only when they are full.
  • Check for leaks regularly. Leaks cause you to use up more water.
  • Grow plants.
  • Use reusable shopping bags instead of plastic bags.

Climate change is real, and poses a huge threat to us as well as any future generations. Doing anything, even small things, to help will be better than doing nothing.

heads up to my underage followers

don’t join mastodon. the lax nature of regulations makes it an extremely popular platform for maps and pedophiles.

there are always alternatives to tumblr but mastodon is Not a trustworthy or good one

This is based on a drastic misunderstanding of what Mastodon is. It’s not a social media site like tumblr – it’s open-source code that allows anyone to create a social media site, which can then interact with other sites using that code. To say Mastodon has “lax regulations” is really misleading, because Mastodon itself has no regulations, it only has tools for moderators to regulate their own instances

Mastodon “allows” pedophiles in the same way that email “allows” identity theft scams. No, “email” doesn’t put a stop to identity theft, but “email” is just a set of protocols for sending messages – it’d be absurd to expect it to

Most Mastodon instances (including mastodon.social, the largest and oldest) do more to keep pedophiles off their platform than tumblr ever has, by having strict rules against it, banning any instances that don’t have strict rules against it, and actively moderating to enforce those rules. At that point it’s as if the pedophiles are on a different website entirely – because they literally are on a different domain

As someone who actually uses it, I can confirm that I’ve never had or even heard of a run-in with pedophiles. Admins know the instances that allow it and quickly block and spread the word about any new ones that pop up. Again, it’s been more of an issue for me on tumblr than it’s ever been on masto

Please reblog this. People love spreading this rumor without knowing what they’re talking about, and it’s driving people away from non-corporate, community-controlled, secure open-source social media. And that’s a real big shame
