Guide to Figuring out the Age of an Undated World Map.

No but take the time to actually read it because I lost like 15 minutes.

I have a friend who is really good at this type of thing.  He once found an old globe at a garage sale and he was able to pin the date of it’s making down to like a 6 month window, because it only would’ve been correct during a specific point in WWII.

I was mad impressed, because I have no mind for geography.  I can barely remember my own state’s capitol.

THIS IS GOLD 😂😂😂

This is amazing. Take the time to actually read it.

Holy shit the super specific things towards the end

Oh wow!

I didn’t know anything about the giant lake in California being created by accident?!

Gonna have myself a delicious chocolate croissant.

But I better heat it up first. Much yummier that way.

The question I’ve gotten the most on this trapdoor murder basement microwave post is “why???” and while there is a perfectly reasonable explanation, I’m tempted to let it remain a mystery.

However one thing that saddens me is the fact that no one has noticed you have to pretty much stand on top of an actual well to use the microwave.

Okay guys, Ellen here with a couple of skin colour art hacks. Skin colours can be hard to pick, especially for races you’re not seeing in your own home or on TV every day. So I got a couple of hacks to share! The first is How To Make a Flesh Cloud.

On a layer set to Normal, make this gradient. This is pretty easy since most art programs have gradient tools. I used Levels to adjust how pale and how dark the colours could go. If you do this, you might wanna apply a Gaussian Blur a couple times to make sure it’s still buttery smooth.

Now you’re gonna go on a new layer and make this gradient here. These are called your undertones. On the left is the ‘cool’ tone, which you can stretch into a more purple range if you please. On the right is your ‘warm’ tone, which you can go further into yellow or almost green if you like. If you push too far into green, purple and blue, you’ll get some rather outlandish tones. Good for zombies and vampires if you’re looking for that, but I’m sticking to ‘lively’ tones for now.

Whoaaaa, what’s this! This is just what happens when you change the settings! With the later ‘Undertones’ on top, I set it to 30% opacity and the ‘Hue’ layer mode in CSP. Suddenly I have these lovely colours that I can play around with! I personally didn’t like any other combinations of layer modes, but you can play around at you please. Fiddling with the ‘Curves’ correction layer can offer you a wider variety of colours in a specific shade – light, medium, or dark can suddenly have a dozen different categories!

The other hack is for when you’re drawing someone in particular, or you have a piece of 3D animation you want to do fanart for, or you’ve picked a real person with the PERFECT skin colour that you want to duplicate in your art.

Let’s say I want to draw Lupita Nyong’o. She’s a gorgeous woman, why would I not?

DO NOT JUST PICK COLOURS OFF OF HER PHOTO. Picking colours from photos or 3D renders is so hard, guys. Never do it. You end up with more mud than gold in your pan. So I’m gonna introduce you to a special filter. In Photoshop it’s called Crystallise, but in CSP, it’s called Mosaic. It lets you take a photograph and turn it into boxes of solid colour, rather than tiny teeny pixels that are impossible to pick correctly.

Ta-dah! … Okay, it looks terrible. But now I have solid colours that I can pick and palette without fear of grabbing something that looks nothing like the final result!

Way more helpful than just going “Here’s some skin tones for all you stupid idiots who can’t draw PoC” like most people on this website do.

Eh. I understand why people are frustrated by it, but basically all tutorials you can get are geared towards drawing white people. You really need to hunt for help drawing shapes and picking colours that you’re not used to. But artists of colour would absolutely get sick of being asked ‘HEY TEACH ME HOW TO DRAW YOU’

FUCKING THANK YOU

So I usually don’t post stuff like this but…

Right so today in class my math teacher, a human who is taller than our door and probably more awkward than it, casually mentioned how he isn’t married and how he never really felt attraction to any gender.
So a pan girl in my class puts up her hand and asks if he was Asexual.
One confused state and three queer people explanations later…
HE WAS BEYOND EXCITED TO FIND OUT THAT HE WAS VALID AND SEEN AS AN ACTAUL HUMAN TO THE LGBT COMMUNITY.
I shit you not.
My way too tall and way too smart and way too dorky and way too awkward maths teacher lived his entire life thinking that he was strange and abnormal for not feeling any attraction to anyone.
And a class of insane grade elevens changed that.

Awhile back I was explaining asexuality to my therapist and at some point she just like froze and was like ‘wait… maybe i’m asexual’ and got really excited and said she was gonna do more research on it herself. Which was not at all what I was expecting to happen when I told my therapist I was ace, but it was def a happy surprise.

EDIT:

i just realized i had originally meant to reblog this to my main, whoops! but i guess it goes okay here too lol

Reblog to help an ace figure themselves out.

When I came out to my mom as ace, she tried to convince me that that’s just how everyone felt, and no one really felt sexual attraction like they always suggest in media or movies, and it took a while of explaining but eventually she started understanding that sex wasn’t some compulsory thing humans had to do and other people did experience attraction. Turns out she thought she was broken for her entire life until she found out what being asexual was, and she’s so much happier now.

At work the other day, I mentioned to one of my older coworker ladies that I’m gay and she told me how her older sister is gay and that she has 2 gay siblings, 2 straight siblings and that she didn’t care either way. She mentioned how she doesn’t care for any gender, especially when it comes to sex and I casually mentioned asexual/aromantic and she just stopped and goes, “wait, there’s a word for it?!”

Trump called himself a nationalist he called himself a nationalist he blatantly and knowingly called himself a nationalist fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

At this point he could just flat out say he’s a fascist and conservatives would not give a shit

I 100% expect that’s what’s coming next.

How long until the NYT runs articles about “is nationalism actually good?” with the same false neutrality that’s helped legitimize everything else he’s done?

0.0 seconds.

Fuck Trump, seriously
